Spring Hill Area Writers

Did you know that Spring Hill Arts Center has a writer’s group that meets three times a month? Our group is open to all interested adult writers looking for an opportunity to connect with other writers. Whatever your genre – fiction, poetry, memoir, etc. – you’re welcome to join the group. Bring your ideas and your laptop (or pencil and paper) and get it down in writing!

1st Wednesday of the month: Writer’s Jam Session

 7-9pm – 1220 School St., Spring Hill

We start this meeting with a short discussion of our current goals/accomplishments, then move into a quiet time of writing. We wrap up the meeting sharing challenges with our current writing projects and brainstorming ways to overcome the challenges we are facing.

2nd Wednesday of the month: Critique Circle

7-9pm – 1220 School St., Spring Hill

This is a workshop style critique session of work submitted by our members that has been shared via email prior to the meeting. We share ideas on the strengths of each piece submitted, share questions we have on the writing, and point out opportunities to improve the writing.

3rd Wednesday of the month: Topic Talk

7-9pm – 1220 School St., Spring Hill

This is a member led discussion on topics pertinent to writers. Past topics have included: plot, structure, word economy, character development, how to get published, goal setting, setting fear aside, and so much more. We base our topic talks on the needs of the members. We also schedule guest speakers to enlighten us on trends in the industry.
